This client contacted Kingpin Car and Marine Audio in Las Vegas, NV for a 2016 John Deere Gator lighting upgrade and audio system installation. During our consultation, the client explained that he used the Gator 825i on camping trips. He loved to bomb around the woods in it! We reviewed the XUV to determine where we could mount the equipment that would help achieve the client’s goals. With a plan in place, we scheduled an appointment to begin the upgrade project.
John Deere Gator Lighting Upgrade
The client wanted much better lighting on his Gator. The factory projectors are just barely adequate at dusk, and simply not bright enough late at night. The first upgrade was a set of Heise HE-BCL22PK 3-inch LED flood lights. These compact lights include four CREE LEDs rated at 3 watts each for a total of 960 Lumens of output. We mounted the cube lights on the tubular front bumper. A second set of Heise cubes are attached to the rear covers of the roof panel.
To throw additional light when traveling at speed, we installed a Heise HE-BDRC42 curved LED light bar on the roof. This light bar produces an astounding 19,200 lumens of output from the 80 LEDs. We created mounting brackets for the light bar that attach to factory hardware on the roof.
We installed two new back-lit control switches for the lighting underneath the instrument cluster in the center console.
We designed a simple, yet reliable sound system for the Gator using products from Exile Audio. An Exile MDC-1 media center controller is located beside the accessory switches in the dash for easy access. The client can stream music over a Bluetooth connection from his phone. He can change tracks and adjust the volume from the controller. Audio from the MDC-1 feeds an Exile XM30.2 amplifier that can produce an awesome 300 watts per channel.
We chose a set of Exile SXT9Q enclosed speakers for the system. These are marine-grade products, so they can put up with the wind, dust and possible rain that the Gator will encounter. Our fabrication team welded together a custom mounting bracket for the enclosures. The bracket attaches to factory hardware in the roll bar. All of the wiring is concealed for maximum reliability and a clean look.
The client returned to Kingpin Car and Marine Audio to check out his new John Deere Gator lighting and sound system. He loved the way we mounted the equipment. He was amazed at how we hid all the wiring. Moreover, the sound system blew his mind! Schedule a consultation with us to start your upgrade using our contact FORM.
