Awhile back, a few staff members of Kingpin Car and Marine audio were out of the office for one of our Kingpin University training programs at a fellow mobile electronics retailer. We had an evening training session scheduled, but as happens from time to time, jobs were piling up quickly and it was looking like we were going to get a late start. One of their clients had requested a subwoofer enclosure under the rear seat of this 2006 Dodge Ram for three JL Audio 10TW3 subwoofers. We rolled up our sleeves and dove into the truck to help get things done. Education waits for no one!
We masked off the area under the rear seat with 3M masking tape, then brewed up a batch of fiberglass resin and set to work creating a base for the subwoofer enclosure. Between applying layers of resin, we started on the top panel. We routered several pieces of MDF to create a top panel with the JL subs recessed into the face.
Once the base was done, we joined the pieces together and wrapped the top in black vinyl.
