A client from Tigard, Oregon, contacted Kingpin Car and Marine Audio about his new 2015 Audi Q5. He had been looking for a white Q5 to come up on the market, but when he saw the price of this blue model, he knew he had to jump on the deal. After living with it for a little while, his craving for white brought him to us. He had seen some of the vehicles we had wrapped before and was amazed at the attention to detail we provide our customers. We started to design the Audi Q5 wrap with his approval.
Color Scheme Design
We worked with the client to come up with a plan to wrap the little SUV. We agreed on a Satin Pearl White to give the vehicle some dimension and shape around the edges. We decided to add carbon-fiber–textured material to the front and rear as an accent. The last design choice was to use gloss black material on the roof.
Unlike sign shops, because we are automotive experts, we started by completely disassembling the exterior of the vehicle. The headlights and taillights came off. We removed the interior door panels to facilitate removal of the door handles next. We removed all of the badges from the vehicle and ensured any trace of adhesive had been cleaned up.
Our expertise in automotive detailing came into play next: We cleaned the vehicle and made sure that paint surface was spotless.
Our goal for a vehicle wrap is to make it look like the car or truck had been painted. We take a great deal of time and car with each seam. Rather than cutting each piece of vinyl flush with the edge of each body panel, we wrap it around the edge. We never, ever cut any vinyl on the vehicle where paint might be underneath. Cutting on the vehicle can lead to scratches in the paint that can only be remedied by repainting the vehicle.
Once all the panels are covered, we start to re-assemble the vehicle. We, of course, test the functionality of each component we reinstall to ensure it works as well as when the vehicle arrived, if not better. We sourced new blacked-out badges for the vehicle for a perfect finishing touch.
Client Was Blown Away By Audi Q5 Wrap!
With the Audi Q5 wrap completed, the customer returned to Kingpin to pick up his SUV. He was blown away! It truly looked like we painted the vehicle. No surprise, since our disassembly process is similar.
