Top 100 Installer

For the 4th year, Jason Kranitz of Kingpin Car Audio / Motoring has been awarded a "Top 100 Installer" award. After scouting the entire country and looking at samples of work from different shops and installers, 100 lucky and skilled installers recieve this award.

Jason will now be going up against the other 99 people for a spot in the "Top 12", an award that we have recieved twice. Will we get it again? It is anyones guess, but we at Kingpin can only hope so, and that once in the "Top 12" we may win the #1 position!

Brew van nearing completion

We have been running around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to get this done. And we have now gotten to a point where once it is back in our hands it is as simple as installing a few minor parts.

The cabin of the van uses a JVC KD-R300 along with an MTX 5500 12" sub to give the drivers some quality sound while they move from venue to venue.

However the real party is in the back of the van. Where the doors open up to reveal 8 MTX 6.5" coax speakers along with 2 MTX 5500 12" woofers. But that is just the audio, the visual part is just as impressive. With an xBox 360, a 36" LCD monitor and Rock Band 2, anyone is bound to have a good time. Check it out in person wherever the Brew Crew goes!

Radio-less new cars

We at Kingpin Car Audio / Motoring have been noticing a trend that is becoming more and more common as people migrate to new cars for less money. It is understandable too, economic times have made everyone think twice about their actions before they spend money.

But new rebates like the C.A.R.S. program have offered something that the American consumer hasn't had since the early 80s. And that is a car for around $6,000. Granted they would still be trading in their "clunker". But the point remains that a car once valued at $100, has now been turned into monthly payments of the same price. Pretty neat huh?

The downside however is that to get into one of these cars you do need to sacrifice a lot. As of right now, the only two cars that are able to become this cheap are the Nissan Versa and Kia Rio. So how do car makers get the prices down so low? By taking out every conceivable option. And that means no radios.

The good news is however that this gives consumers the option to move into an aftermarket deck for as little as $170 installed! Or being able to add things like Bluetooth, HD Radio, Satellite radio and iPod integration for just a little bit more. If you have purchased one of these radio free cars recently, such as a Nissan Versa or Nissan Altima. We have everything you need to get you on your way with some new tunes!

HD Radio

Seeing as Portland has the largest number of HD Radio stations out of anywhere in the country. We thought we would provide a way to give you more information on all 46 of them! Which is a great reason to look into this free service when you decide to purchase a head unit. For not much more than the standard CD-Player counterparts, and the lack of a monthly subscription when compared to Sirius and XM radios. These will often pay for themselves within 4 months.

To see a full list of radio stations click the link below and press the Oregon button.

Cell phone bans coming soon

For those who have been living under a rock...or at least don't pay attention to the news. A bill has now gone through both The House and Senate that will make it illegal to drive while talking on a cell phone or texting without the use of a handsfree device. Here is the article from the Associated Press:

"SALEM, Ore (AP) - Oregon lawmakers have given final approval to bill to ban use of hand-held cell phones while operating a motor vehicle.

The measure, which was approved by the House on Wednesday, now goes to Gov. Ted Kulongoski for his expected signature.

The new law will impose a maximum $90 fine on drivers caught texting or talking on a hand-held cell phone. It does not apply to drivers using a cell phone equipped with a handsfree device.

Supporters of the ban say drivers who become distracted by using hand-held cell phones pose a traffic safety hazard to themselves and others. Oregon will become the sixth state with such a ban.

-

The measure is House Bill 2377"

Based on what we at Kingpin have heard, it is expected to go into effect at the start of the new year. So we have gone ahead and started to prepare for the rush with 7 headunits that have Bluetooth capabilites built in, and 10 more that it can be added to. As well as multiple other types of Bluetooth integration for you. If you have any questions about what will work with your vehicle or would like more information about the House Bill. A new start

Having been over a whole year since the last post was added to Kingpin Car Audio's Blogspot we decided to start over. As you may have noticed with other sections of the Kingpin website. Such as the Marine Audio portion. If you haven't seen that yet check it out now and come back here in a bit. I'll wait. Or if you're really that un-motivated, here is a screenshot.

So slowly you will start to see changes all around the site. Including things like a bi-monthly newsletter, featured cars, and more in depth information available here. All small things that contribute to making Kingpin Car Audio / Motoring the best place to get any sort of mobile audio information, parts and service in the entire Northwest.
